XL Computers Client Profile (which may include YOU!)

Rather than describe our range of services (as we have been doing from our site in the last number of years), we felt it might be more appropriate to describe the type of clients we provide service to. That way, you may identify better with what you can expect once you decide to do business with us:

1) Small Companies

Companies that have a computer network of between 6 and 50 clients come under this group,  whch includes the majority of Clients we service. Many of these companies don’t’ have any in-house IT expertise let alone an IT department. If this is your company and you want a reliable outsourced IT agreement, then you are visiting the right website.

However, many of these companies will already have an IT department in place, or at minimum a person who may not directly be an IT person, but has sufficient knowledge to get the company out of trouble whenever IT issues arise.  One problem with this approach is that it tends to be a reactive approach to IT, which can cost a lot more in the long run, even though it appears to be a cost-effective option at the outset. One of the main reasons that it is no longer cost effective, is because there are now software tools that enable remote monitoring, which can be done quite cheaply, and hence save time and money in the long run.

2) Medium sized Enterprise Clients

Companies that have a computer network from between 50 and 200 clients come under this group, and most of these will already have an IT department in place. One of the key benefits we can provide for such a company, is facilitating them in using a flexible approach to their IT needs, in that they can maintain a minimum level of in-house IT necessary to maintain their IT systems, while calling on outside expertise for those periods when the IT workload increases beyond the resources available in-house to support it. Having under-utilized in-house IT resources can be expensive, and in many cases it may be worth considering a totally out-sourced IT solution. Again you can talk to us if you are interested in going this route.

3) Consumers or SOHO (Small-Office / Home-Office) users.

A current trend (and one adopted by members of our company that have evolved over the years) is the trend to have MORE than one computer in the home, even if one is NOT running any kind of business from home. This is because many modern families are using their computers now more ubiquitously than ever before. In a recent survey, it has been found that Computer use (and especially Internet use), has overtaken the use of TV as a medium for spending the time on evenings and / or weekends. A typical home nowadays, might consist of one Main PC as well as 3 or 4 laptops, often used separately by family members.

If this is you, please feel free to contact us and discuss your configuration, or if you are not that familiar with how to better utilize your technology then again, a call to us will help you make sense of it all. One of the main benefits of talking to us, is that often what seems like major work costing a lot of money IS’NT when done properly at the outset.

Within the context of the above range of business, but particularly within our group of SOHO clients, we can further subdivide these clients into the following sub-categories:

3a) Cost conscious clients:

Many of our drop-in clients do not want to commit to any type of contract, as their main objective is to keep their expenditure spent on computers to the bare minimum.

The course of action we recommend to this client is whenever you have problems with your computer (even some of the smaller or apparently simple problems (as these can turn into big problems later)), bring your Computer unit into our workshop for service (that is the Tower box, or in many other case a slim-=line desktop box). If you are having any trouble dis-assembling it prior to brining it into us, feel free to phone us about any douts / queries you may have and we will be happy to help.

3b) Clients who want Reliable trouble-free operation as a top priority:

For these clients we would recommend a full remote service agreement, that will allow us to monitor activities on your computer(s). To cater for these clients we provide a complete range of services from basic remote monitoring service, to a complete out-sourced IT service.

4) Large Companies and Corporations:

Because we focus our attentions on providing high calibre solutions to the enterprises described above, we have, over the years, developed many unique advantages for our customers that help keep their systems running optimally within their limited budgets. Hence we do NOT serve companies with networks larger than 200 clients, or having a multi-server environment any more than 10 servers within a specific location. We can however help companies of these larger scales that use distributed computing networks, that would typically integrate with their broader WAN environment, and here we like to concentrate our services on the Irish branches of such companies, where we can also provide on-site services where necessary.

These services start from as little as €8/month. Full details of these important services are available on request, as pricing will vary depending on the size and complexity of your network, as well as the number/capacity of the files being remotely backed up. A specific Price will be established on an as per case basis, and we will then supply you with full details on the package we have provide you with.

Our approach to PC Maintenance is a Pro-active one, rather than a Re-active one (the one used by most PC support Companies today). This gives you added peace of mind, and improves your overall productivity in that you can get on with using your computers to do what they’re supposed to do in an efficient manner.

Notebook Services:

XL Computers have recently upgraded their diagnostics facilities that facilitates easy service on the hard disks of Laptop computers, and because of this we are making an introductory offer of only €50 (including VAT) to have your laptop serviced on it.  Yes you can remove all that harmful Spyware and possible Viruses that have been slowing your Laptop down (but you may not have realized why it was running slower), not to mention the possible security risks to your data once you go online!!..   This €50 offer will run from now until Easter Weekend.

We are also clearing stock of older Laptop RAM so if you have a Laptop over 1 year old, we more than likely have the RAM in stock to allow you to upgrade it, and we’re disposing of it at heavy discounts (i.e. well below cost), so contact us if you are interested in upgrading your RAM, and thereby extending the life of your laptop.

Re: Backup Solutions.

As you may have already learnt to your cost, Laptops are much more venerable to data loss than desktops, as they are likely to get knocked around during their life, making them susceptible to hard disk crashes and consequent data loss. XL Computers have a solution to this problem, by providing an automatic backup solution on a regular basis, at an interval that suits you (i.e. if you are a heavy user of your laptop and update your info every day, we recommend a daily backup as a minimum).
